# About Nathan Espejo

Nathan Espejo is a 3rd-year Software Engineering student at Western University (2026-27) who builds LLM agents and retrieval systems for his own workflows. He is looking for a Summer 2027 software engineering or applied AI internship.

## In short

- Looking for: a Summer 2027 software engineering or applied AI internship.
- Program: 3rd-year Software Engineering at Western University, Dean's Honour List 2024 and 2025.
- Roles: Software Engineering Intern at TeraGo; VP of Data/ML at 3D Western.
- Start with: Campus, then the NixOS homelab and AWARE.
- Contact: nate.e.espejo@gmail.com or linkedin.com/in/nathan-espejo.

## Location

Brampton and London, ON.

## Education

Western University, Bachelor of Engineering Science in Software Engineering, Aug 2024 to May 2028 (expected graduation May 2028). Dean's Honour List in 2024 and 2025.

## Focus

Campus, his self-hosted study assistant, is the flagship. Next come a NixOS homelab where AI agents propose config changes that he approves, and the on-device AWARE build. How he chooses between hosted and local models is in [Local and cost-aware AI](/knowledgebase/local-ai.md). Outside AI he has also built games, mobile apps and hardware, many of them at hackathons.

## How he works

He likes small teams with clear ownership, reproducible setups, and good READMEs. In his homelab the model proposes a change and a deterministic step applies it, with an audit log or rollback behind it.
