Summary: An AI system just for configuring NixOS, with its own memory, inspired by running Hermes Agent on NixOS. I started it in Rust, then got impatient because I wanted to be on NixOS already. So I switched, ran Hermes on it, and it worked really well. That became my homelab.

# AgntOS

An AI system built just for managing NixOS configuration, with its own memory system. The idea came straight from Hermes Agent and NixOS: an agent that proposes config changes, on a system that can roll any of them back. I started building it in Rust in May 2026.

## Why I stopped

I got impatient. I wanted to be on NixOS already, so I switched my machines over and ran Hermes Agent on them instead. That works really well, especially with cloud models and the broader general knowledge they bring. That setup is now my [NixOS homelab](/knowledgebase/projects/homelab.md).
